Focusing on Heart and Home

Nanni and Poppi's Place is my dedicated commitment to gentle, intimate care. Inside the comfort of my own home, I serve as the sole caregiver for up to two residents at a time, ensuring my professional medical expertise is paired with peaceful, focused attention. I believe that nursing is a sacred, personal bond, and I dedicate myself to honoring each loved one's unique journey with grace. Here, your family member is never just a patient, but a cherished family member receiving my full heart and presence.

Our Values Guided by My Heart

Gentle Small Presence

I believe in being fully present for my guests, offering a patient ear and a soft touch to ensure your loved one never feels alone on their journey.

Honoring the Soul

Every person deserves respect. I honor the individual life stories and unique preferences of those in my home, preserving their dignity at every stage.

Your Calm Space

My care extends to you as well. I provide a peaceful sanctuary where families find the support they need to focus on simply being a family again.

A Legacy of Compassion

My name is Dawn Morrison, and caregiving has been the calling of my life.

I discovered that calling at just fifteen years old, while working in my aunt Cathy Morrison’s assisted living home in Sarasota, Florida. Surrounded by skilled nurses, doctors, and caregivers, I saw what compassionate, high-standard care could truly mean. My aunt taught me the importance of advocacy, dignity, and seeing the person behind the need. That foundation shaped everything I have done since.

For more than three decades, I have dedicated my life to caring for others. I began as a caregiver, earned my medication passing license, became a Certified Nursing Assistant, and later became a Licensed Practical Nurse. For over fifteen years, I have served families in the DeLand area as an LPN, working in long-term care, rehabilitation, doctors’ offices, school nursing, group homes, hospice care, and case management.

Those experiences taught me that good care is more than completing tasks. It is patience. It is trust. It is listening. It is knowing when to be gentle, when to advocate, and when to simply be present.

Caregiving has not only been my profession. It has also been deeply personal. I am a mother of two, including an adult son with special needs, and I have spent his life advocating for his care and well-being. I also cared for my mother, my father, and my grandmother in my own home until the end of their lives. Those years gave me a deeper understanding of aging, family, forgiveness, and the kind of love it takes to care for someone well.

Today, my children are grown, I am a grandmother, and I own my home in DeLand. My home is peaceful, loving, and ready for its next chapter. I share that home and vision with my partner, Scott Dixon, whose steady support and business sense help make this dream possible. I also share it with Gigi, my emotional support dog, whose gentle presence brings comfort in her own special way.

Now, after a lifetime of caring for both my family and my community, I am opening my home and my heart to someone new.

My vision is simple: to create a place where someone can feel safe, supported, valued, and loved. Whether they have family nearby or need a family-like home to become part of, my goal is to offer more than care. I want to offer belonging.

I believe the best care comes from the heart, strengthened by experience, guided by skill, and rooted in love. This is not just what I do. It is who I am.
